rooster collars??

Some of these replies are saying a 4" Velcro piece and others are saying 2" - does anyone know which is best? And what about using two smaller 3/4" strips of Velcro on a 2" piece of fabric?

I'm using 2" wide Velcro.. You defiantly need to be able to adjust it, I've almost got mine down..
 
I have the BEST Rooster in the world! He is great with my kids and his girls. He only crows from 5-7 am about 10-15 times. Well, I got them at 2 days as pullets. I realized he was a Roo when the beautiful colors, big comb ect... Anyways I'm in a no Rooster area but love hearing dogs bark all night:). So tonight my husband and I are going to try the collar. My question is where should it be placed ? Any tips would be great! I don't want to hurt him! I watched a very healthy Rooster wear one and he was happy as a clam. If it doesn't work I do have a back up home. I really want to keep him though!! We have tons of hawks, cats and dogs. He is also beautiful to look at and love to see him with his girls.
 
So I posted yesterday about my rooster crowing and being in a urban setting. I read more of the thread, ran out to supply store and bought 4 inch industrial strength Velcro . It worked!!:) however, I'm afraid he is depressed. He ran around the yard backwards for a bit. Then went to bed. He was out and about this morning. I put extra goodies, feed & water in with the coop today. I made sure the Velcro wasn't to tight. I'm at work now kind of worried about him eating. Has anyone who has tried this or used it on a daily basis had a depressed rooster? Should I take it of during the day? The problem is is I work and can't listen for the day time crow. He started really late almost 6 months old. He's pretty quite. Any thoughts?
 
I have heard of some people using the collar as a teaching tool. They put it on as punishment when he crows, then take it off after a time. If he crows again, it goes back on. This would probably require some time investment / maybe a weekend when you're home from work... a page or 2 back there is a video of a rooster wearing it comfortably and not acting depressed, maybe it will help :-)
 
After 2 days mine stopped running backwards, or lowering the head while walking.
 
He seemed ok tonight. He was eating, drinking and roaming with his girls. So he is getting use to it. I'll definitely pull it off this weekend during the day. Try to use the training method for a few weeks. I'm so glad I found this thread and thank you ! He's such a lovely part of our flock! I read horrible stories about Roosters and am blessed to have him.
 
Update on Sassy's collar. Worked great for two days! Then we hear a crying boy sound:) seems he has figured out how to move it up his neck a bit. So we have to check it each night. Has anyone else hAd this problem ?
