Hey, my rooster's comb is has gotten this blue purple ish colour on the outside of it as shown in the picture. He wasn't like this yesterday and no other chicken is like this.

Anyone know what this means? Thank you!!

Do you have another rooster? Can you get him drinking some fluids or electrolytes? Roosters with large combs can get dark tips and dark toward the back occasionally from excitement or with temperature changes, or if dehydrated. But he looks like he may have been getting pecked or run around into wire fencing. He also could be dehydrated.

Yes, he did get into a fight with another rooster I was quick to put a stop to it. His comb wasn't like this then iev just seen this today, I'll try give him some electrolytes. I have seen him drinking maybe it's not enough? I did have some new hens come in, could that be why he's excited?

One of my larger-combed hens is also looking a bit like this today. Did you figure out the cause, or what helped?
He's just been fine tbh. It gets dark on the edges in the evening and in the morning it's back to being the red colour. I haven't noticed any unusual behaviour so I'm not that concerned. I haven't managed to find the cause and I didn't try anything I just watched him for a few days and it happens everyday.
