Rooster Crow A lot In Morning

I have heard of people keeping them (only at night to stop the nighttime /early morning crowing) in a short dog crate that way they cant stretch up and can not crow if they cant stretch their necks up? Not sure if it is true but sound safer than a no crow collar
I saw the other poster say this... but it didn't make sense to me. But with a little explanation... I see the point is to kinda stop them from filling the air sack and also not be able to broadcast as far without stretching that I always see them fully extended when they do crow.

Not letting the neck stretch is important, but def the walking around is what makes them think of crowing.
Chickens don't walk around in the dark they are hard of seeing at night... and they're also chicken. My boys crow from their roost not walking around at 3:30 am. :)

Chickens are able to see UV so they can see the sun coming up several hours earlier than, us is my understanding. But they don't crow because the sun is coming up. They crow because it's natural. It's odd that come roost time.. crowing stops completely, until 3:30! :barnie
Much less, if they are busy doing other early chores. Is the difference between sing and pause or non-stop singing.
Well, I've got WAY more hen's then I or a boy needs. There are NO chores to be done at 3:30 am, if it's dark.

The boys have companionship in each other. Sure they're horny, but female companions does NOT stop the 3:30 crowing. And they don't CROW because they're unhappy. If that was the case... we've all got some serious unhappy rooster issues.

No rudeness intended here... I don't think you speak rooster. :p Neither do I! ;)

Just here to share and learn.

They walk around as soon as the sun comes up, and if they are walking around they like to crow. That may be earlier than your neighbors like, plus if there is a predator walking around the coop at night the rooster may be crowing to scare it off, most roosters do not crow at 3:30 AM , unless they get woke up. They are light sleepers.

Oh wow, I can set my watch to my roosters. They honestly start to crow at 3:30am...every morning. There may be raccoons running around at that time still but I think my boys are just early risers. Lol. Between 7am - 11am I have a little hen that lays her eggs on my back porch, rite outside my bedroom window. Well, not only is she a loud lil hen but her admirers like to sit and watch her lay her egg and the whole time they SING “The Egg Song”!!
Lol

my rooster used to do that but he stopped after a few nights of me telling him to stop. also it helps if there's nothing to annoy him like too much heat or not enough food. if all else fails i will wrap him in a blanket or give him a hug to quiet him up

My Cockerel Crow About On 3:30 Am Daily And Hr Made My 2nd Cockerel Crow Also ..He Crow Like Insanely Pls Anyone Help ..I let them sleep in dark , put a circulation for air with ceiling fan (temperature is hot) plssssssssss guys my neighborhood complained alot
That what roosters do.

Better rehome them or try a no crow collar... My boys start at 3:30 EVERY morning for the past... since they started crowing. :hmm Not an issue for me or my neighbors... fortunately! If my neighbors have issue, so do I and I work very hard to be a good neighbor. Which I can tell you want to be also. Maybe let them know that you ARE working on a solution. Maybe they will be able to be extra understanding if they do know that you ARE going to remedy it one way or the other and just need a little time to figure it out. :)

Dark has nothing to do with it. They crow at sound, and for all kinds of reasons including letting predator know they are protecting their flock.

Careful with the crow collar if you go that route, I've seen mixed good and bad experiences.

Good luck! :fl
I agree If they get woken up they will crow! I have a rooster that is light sleeper. He will crow at 9pm, midnight, 1am, 2am sometimes. But then usually the others join in about 3:30 or 4

If the daytime crowing does not bother the neighbors, you'll have to get to crates to put your roosters in at night and put them someplace where the crowing can't be heard. Of course I'd bring them in the house at night in the crates (cages). However, if the house is not an option find a place that will muffle the sound of the crowing and at the same time keep your roosters protected as a predator can reach between the wire and snatch off the head. Crowing collars have resulted in dead birds and decrowing surgery may change the crowing noise somewhat but there will still be noise.

Make sure crate is the appropriate size for your birds.

Good luck. Crowing roosters and angry neighbors do not work well together.

Chickens sleep in spurts so time dosent mean alot to them. I go see what's going on with my doodle if he's crowing very early and most of the time he's not even awake he's crowing but his eyes are closed. I go to the window tell him to hush and he's handsome and he's good until 5 or 6. Maybe your guy is sleep crowing. :)

You just told him to stop and he did? Fascinating!
Shoot my dogs don't even stop barking when I politely ask them to stop. ;)

Can you cover the crate? The reason I ask is because we used to cover our cockatiel's cage at night so that he would sleep and be quiet. I didn't know if the same could be done with a rooster.
