I read that someone posted as the chicks got older, that a roosters wings develop differently than the hens, smaller and pointier. Is this true? I have 20 purebred bantams from Cackle Hatchery and I am delighted with them all. They are 12 days old today and I am still guessing on what some of them are. Most have pretty nice wings already but 2 imparticular have small pointed wings, but they are 2 of the bigger chicks. It is the white one with the silver mist all over and feathered feet (there is only one like this) and the other is a Chipmunk with feathered feet, (I have 2 of these and the other has fuller wings)
These 2. Nice of them to pose together.
Here is a picture of a bunch of them. The 2 chipmunks are together and you can see that the one on the top left has fuller wings. The other chipmunk is bigger and has tiny wings.

Ok, my other question is about Frizzles. There is one that is completely white, feathered legs and yellow beak and feet. She loves to sit on me so I get to check her out pretty good. Today I notice that her wing feathers stick out a little funny, not smooth like most of the other chicks. More like the Silkies, but not quite. I don't know why I thought there was not Frizzles in the group, I guess I thought it would be more obvious when they got here. The pictures are not the greatest for her, but here goes.
And another.

Let me know your opinion

Here is a picture of the chicken tractor we built over the weekend. It is their daytime playpen till we build the new chicken coop. Oh, that piece of wood on the side is just leaning there for extra shade. The cat was enjoying it.

Well, thanks for the info.

wayyyy too young! boys tend develop slower over time but not always. I believe when they were talking about the long pointed feathers they must have speaking of the hackles and saddles which come in when they are fully feathered birds.

see the difference?
