Thank you for the link! It has some really good ideas. My thought at the time it happened was having DS be the "top roo" & the thread has ideas to have that happen. I will have him carry him around tonight & put him in a dog crate if necessary. I do think hormones has a lot to do with things right now. I have another rooster in a tractor that is just starting to crow & several girls just coming into lay.

IMHO, it's worth a try to work things out first. I know lots of folks say "freezer camp!" immediately, but I for one have had some nasty boys that ended up being perfect gentlemen after working with them a bit. And, I find these ones to be the best flock protectors and the best breeders. Again, JMO. Good luck!

Thanks... I will update about how things go.

My son just spotted the eggs in your picture & he said he wants a chicken that lays that kind of eggs We have a Black Copper Marans that is laying & some Cuckoo Marans that will lay this fall. Your eggs are gorgeous!

There aren't many people around here that have dark egg laying breeds, but I think the eggs are gorgeous

when our eldest Cochin grabbed a mouthful of newly aquired Barnevelder hen and refused to let go.... I have to *cringe* admit she got a tap on the tail until she let go and they could be returned to separate coops .
So much for community free-range social hour.
