rooster flogged son

Wynette,
Thank you for the link! It has some really good ideas. My thought at the time it happened was having DS be the "top roo" & the thread has ideas to have that happen. I will have him carry him around tonight & put him in a dog crate if necessary. I do think hormones has a lot to do with things right now. I have another rooster in a tractor that is just starting to crow & several girls just coming into lay.

IMHO, it's worth a try to work things out first. I know lots of folks say "freezer camp!" immediately, but I for one have had some nasty boys that ended up being perfect gentlemen after working with them a bit. And, I find these ones to be the best flock protectors and the best breeders. Again, JMO. Good luck!

Thanks... I will update about how things go.

My son just spotted the eggs in your picture & he said he wants a chicken that lays that kind of eggs;) We have a Black Copper Marans that is laying & some Cuckoo Marans that will lay this fall. Your eggs are gorgeous!

Awe....thanks! I've worked really hard on them for a few years now - it's a labor of love, I adore the breed!
