The way I give electrolytes is to hold the Gatoraid cap with some of the liquid under the chicken's beak. Dip his beak in it to get him started. The taste is good and chickens like it, so he should suck up all he needs. Just keep refilling the bottle cap until he has had all he wants.

Offer him more every half hour and he'll get what he needs.

He is in a lot of pain ..try putting him up on a table and petting him and talking to him .

In the thread that was posted earlier, the OP did not drain the fluid from the wattles until after a few days. We are all hoping that he recovers. Frostbitten wattles and combs are very painful. I have never dealt with that much swelling in wattles, so this is challenging.

My roo is doing much better today. His wattle is not as swollen and he's eating hard boiled egg with my help and drinking fluids much better. He will be in the heated shop for at least another week.

This is a very welcome sight! It's so good to see this sweet dude with his head up and proud! It's a good indication that he's feeling so much better!

I believe he wouldn't lift his head up yesterday because he was suffering intense pain. Do continue to give him aspirin if you notice he's starting to droop again. He's well on his way to recovery, though.

He does drop his head. I give him a baby aspirin am and pm. Right? He sure loves the cherry flavor!

Dropping his head means the pain is getting to him. This shouldn't be a burden for him much longer. He should heal pretty quickly.

Yes, morning and evening for the aspirin. Did you get the Vetericyn spray? It will hasten new tissue growth.

Yes, I did get the vetericyn, spray him with it but I have to be careful not to drown the poor guy, it runs down his wattles and with his beak between then when he drops his head isn't good.

Use Raw Egg White
My Rooster also got frost bite like yours and swelled wattles .
I brought him inside
he would eat and drink for me if hand fed him on the table .
For pain I put on raw egg white on the comb and wattles from the frig .
it works for burns and stops the pain .

if the wattles have food on them ..I bab them clean with a wet cotton ball 1st
then 2 or 3 times a day I put a little egg white in a shot glass
and . with a cotton ball dab it on the effected area
He stood on my bathroom sink and let me do this .

I used this on my stomach from burns I got from the pressure cooker water.
My fault I was impatient and opened it too soon
It stopped the pain instantly ... and healed without any noticeable scars
