Dear everyone! Please help, so far no one could advise me. I have 2 roosters and 2 hens. 5 month olds. One of the marans rooster started to have too much saliva and seemed to find it harder to swallow but was fine looking great happy running round, crowing very loud etc. Left them with grandparents for 2 weeks and when we picked them up yesterday i noticed the combe was hanging and he lost a lot of weight. Green poo and tongue is swollen. He did eat today but can see it is difficult for him to swallow :( Vet does not know! Listed many things, bacteria or virus or fungus or parasite….anyone knows what it could be? The comb is cold and hanging not like before hot and straight up. Otherwise seems lively, running, eyes are clear , feathers shining .
Any advice would be appreciated .
Many thanks

Did you check inside his beak and throat for anything that might got stuck ?

Palpate his croup and gently move up to feel for blocks. Like LaFleche suggested maybe something you can see in there when you open his mouth. Green can be parasites, mareks or a flu maybe.

Also look besides and under his tonge, sometimes grain awns can get stuck and cause inflammation etc.

And take a magnifying glass to see if there is something like a long hair or filament wrapped around the tongue.

Hello! I looked and he has a swollen tongue, looking sort of greenish. I was reading on this site other messages and maybe can be canker? But im not sure how that looks like… he has definitely a swollen tongue and difficulty swallowing:( Thanks for your reply, tomorrow will try and take a picture. Im giving him silver colloid, also a mixture of tea tree oil /grapefruit drops, black walnuts and olive leaf drops. These are good for viruses bacteria fungus and parasites so hopefully cannot go wrong.

Cancer would present as yellowish/whitish cheeselike pus adhesions:
