Can anyone tell me what’s wrong with my Ameraucana rooster? I have a video but can’t figure out how to post it. He shakes or ticks his head like he is dizzy. He is acting normal except for the head movements. Eating, foraging, walking, pooping. We have a flock of 25 chickens, he is the only one exhibiting this behavior. We feed a mixture of purina flock raiser, cracked corn, meal worms, black oil sunflower seeds, oats and scratch.

Welcome to BYC. Videos should be uploaded to YouTube or Vimeo with a link posted here. Is he shaking his head like he is shaking off water or secretions? Look over his eyes for bubbles/foam, lock for nasal drainage, and check his ear canals for gunk. Also good to look at his skin around his neck, under wings, and belly for mites or lice.

Ok! I will try that

No, it looks like a neurological tic almost

You may want to try some vitamin E 400 IU daily for a neurological symptom. A bit of scrambled egg or sunflower kernels would add some selenium for uptake of vitamin E. How old is he? Where are you located? Head injury, vitamin E deficiency, or certain diseases can affect the brain. Those can include Mareks, Newcastles, avian influenza, and others. But it may just be a tic or some type of seizure activity.

They get hard boiled yolks regularly but I could add sunflower kernels

He is 8 months
We are in Oregon
No injury that I know of
We hatched him so no mareks vaccine

If it's a vitamin deficiency, give 400. I.u vitamin E and a sliver of a B complex tablet every day for a few weeks, just open his beak and pop it in. Any brand from the grocery store.
What is his age, diet, and any other symptoms?

No other symptoms
She’s 8 months old
I usually feed them organic layer feed with oyster shells and dried meal worms
I put oyster shells in separate bowl mixed with food so they can choose
Sometimes I give them fruits and veggies
She started acting like this yesterday but I was gone all day so I don’t know if she got hit in the head or anything doesn’t seem like it
