Hello,

I have a 1 year old Silkie rooster that my wife and I both love (he usually sleeps in until 7:30 or later!) The rooster is friendly with everyone that comes to visit and runs out to greet me when i go into their area. Recently, when my wife goes into the chicken run the rooster attacks just her. When she's around, he ignores me and anyone else around and chases her out. After she's gone he's content and happy to eat out of my hand. At first I thought it was hilarious thinking she spooked him or wasn't fast enough throwing out treats, but a regular pattern is developing and she's heartbroken that she can't spend time with the chickens anymore. What can I do to fix this behavior?

He's dominating her. She needs to stand her ground, and than get him on the run. I recommend she uses something like a fishing net, broom or plastic rake to block his advanced. As long as she runs he wins and will continue to do so. I don't allow such forward behaviors from my roosters. When they see me they should come forward but stop about 10 feet away as a show of respect.

I agree, NEVER run from an aggressive chicken. It only encourages them to get more aggressive. If you keep running from an aggressive chicken it will never stop being aggressive.
