Rooster might have fowl pox?

I have had my Rhode Island red rooster for about a year, and lately his comb has had very very small black scabbish spots. I didn't think much of it, and did nothing. The last week I have been gone and my chickens have been staying with a friend's chickens and just got home today. I noticed the rooster's spots were worse and there were more of them. It is not that bad, but what are symptoms of fowl pox and what can I do to treat it if it is? Is it fatal?
