Our golden laced polish rooster has been acting very odd for the past week and a half or so. We just trested them for coccidiosis because we saw a few red piles of poop. He was recently attacked by our puppythis weekend and almost killed but he was acting bad before that. I'm not sure what is wrong with him. He wont walk a lot and he's usually laying down. He won't be with the rest of the flock and usually stays near the coop. Yesterday I thought he might've been getting better because he was up by the driveway. The past week he hasn't seemed to be eating and drinking a lot and I thought he might've been sick from cocci but he should be better by now and both flocks are acting completely normal except for him. This morning it seemed like he was favoring one foot but I will have to check. I also just came home from school and his growing feathers on his head have appeared to been pecked out by the other flock. The gate leading out of their pen was closed all day and the rest of his flock jumped over the fence. The younger flock must have been picking on him (this happened last year too, but it was his flock that did it to him). Usually this rooster jumps over the fence too, but he was just sitting by the gate inside. He just kind of limps around when he walks. Please help, does anyone know I'd he might be sick? Injured? How can I help him? He means a lot to our family. I'm going to give him some sunflower seeds for extra protein to recover his feathers that now have to regrow. (I tried to upload a video but it wont let me)

So I tried to look at his legs and feet to see if there might be something wrong. One of his feet looks thicker and it has a scab or something. My immediate thought was bubblefoot. I looked up causes of bubblefoot and trauma came up. Like I said, he was nearly mauled by my puppy a few days ago and another time right before we started cocci treatment, but it wasn't as bad of an attack. Could this be what's wrong and if so, any advice on how to treat it?

That’s definitely bumblefoot. It doesn’t look too bad, but could definitely be causing him to act like this.

Start off by soaking his foot in an epsom salt bath, and cleaning the foot. Peel off the scab and see if there is a “kernel” inside. If there is, and it is easy to access remove all parts of it. Put Neosporin on, and wrap it up to keep more dirt and bacteria from getting in.

If you can’t find a kernel, don’t bother digging around his foot for it. Just put Neosporin on the cut, wrap it up, and keep it clean with frequent epsom salt baths and Neosporin. With enough time it will probably go away on its own. (If it does get worse I would recommend either going to a vet or looking into at home bumblefoot surgery.)

The bumblefoot is fairly minor and very likely is not the contributing factor to his decline.
This is something I would not treat at this time, and I'd focus on getting him healthy first, then address the foot if needed.

You reported in one of your other threads that he was not doing well almost 2weeks ago.

Please get some photos of his poop.

Separate him out so he's not getting picked on and he's protected. Trim the feathers around his face so he's able see.
Watch to see that he's drinking and provide him with a nutritionally balanced poultry feed. A chick starter or an all flock feed would be best to feed him if possible.
Sunflower seeds are a treat, he may do better with giving some egg, meat or fish. Get some poultry vitamins that contain E and B1 (Thiamine) into him. He's a Polish, being pecked and plucked on the head, he needs neurological support.

He needs to be eating/drinking well, make sure his crop is emptying overnight and that he has no lice/mites.

When was the last time he was dewormed?

You've treated with Corid right?

Look him over for other injuries, bruises, wounds that may have occurred when the dog attacked/mauled him.

Clean out the crevice of the one foot. If you feel you must treat the other foot that has the plug, then I suggest you treat it non invasively.

I'm going to do it tomorrow after school

My brother is going to pick up some vetrap today so we can treat his bumblefoot. Last night he slept on the floor of the coop. It is softer on his foot. When I get home around 3, I'll separate him in a dog crate and probably keep him in the garage. I can feed him some all flock and maybe give him some fish tonight. None of our chickens have ever been dewormed. He has been treated with corid. He doesn't really move around a lot but I have tried to feed him some. I'm not sure about how much water he is drinking. I wasn't there when he was as attacked by our dog, but my parents said they looked him over and they didnt se anything. I'll look him over again when I get home though. He was also chased by the same dog about a few days before we began treating them. The dog ripped out a few feathers and I think that is when he started to act weird but he's just kept getting worse. I'll see if we can get some vitamins, but if not what else would give him some thiamine?

So I have him eating some food right now and I am going to go with my mom to grab some vet wrap and the vitamins and electrolytes supplement. I checked online and found that the stuff I was looking at does have vitamins E and B1. I was going to set up the crate and was wondering if it would be better and more comfortable to use puppy pads on the bottom I would pine shavings be better?

Update: just put him in the cage. He will be staying he night in it. I put some water and food in there for him with the medicated water. I was inspecting him for any injuries and noticed that his skin looked very strange. When I picked him up to bring him in, I noticed that the bu one on his stomach, leading from about his crop to his stomach is protruding a lot. I can really feel it and I dont know if it's normal or I should be worried. Is it from him not eating a lot? I saw him eat a little but he didn't drink at all. I'm really worried. Please help 🙏I'm hoping this electeolyt stuff helps but he won't drink and it's in his water. Is there anything else I can do to help him? I really can't take him to a vet. His breathing seems kind of labored. Side effects of bumblefoot??? Did the dog do this??? Is he sick??? PLEASE HELP I'm scared we might lose him and we canl

De in his food will not treat lice, mites or worms.

I'd work on getting him hydrated. Hold a cup of the vitamin/electrolyte water up to his beak and see if he will drink on his own.
If he's not drinking, then you can try syringing or tubing fluids into him.

What's his crop feel like?

The bone you see is his keel bone. It is a bit sharp, likely because he's underweight.
Make sure he's able to see.

I'm not sure what's going on with him, but his stance says he's not well. He needs hydration and then to eat a nutritionally balanced feed.
