rooster or hen, can you help me identify?

Check out this video and let me know if you can help me with the following:

1. Is the 12 week old in this video a male or female? Hatched in nov 08, been living with the mom in the garage to keep them out of the chicago winter wind, but pretty soon will be back outside with the others.

2. The parents showed up in our yard last year so I really dont know their breeds. dad is very dark red with a greenish almost black tail. Mom you can see in the video. Any idea of the mom's breed?

look at the region of his hips, on his back. Part the feathers and see the new ones coming in. If they are narrow and pointy, then it is a boy. If they are rounded at the tips and fuller shape, then it is a girl.

OK I made a video of those feathers on the hip... looks like a hen, the feathers are more rounded. Is that what you're taking about?
