This little chicken is about 6mos old, its pretty big compared to my other amerucauna and a little smaller than my currently laying buff's. It sits atop the water bowl and acts pretty bossy. Wanna guess? There is a TON of feathers around its face makes it look smaller than it actually is. I know what I think it is but interested to see what others think as the group as a whole has been accurate in guessing on my other babies..

I have a hen that I thought was a roo till she laid an egg. She was larger than most of my other
hens and had a bossy personality. She also had a larger comb than the other girls. None the less
one day she laid an egg. Given that lesson in nature, you can never be too sure till it either crows or
lays an egg.

But given the age have you noticed any pullet eggs in the laying boxes?

no spurs starting, doesNT crow... weve let it free range so no idea if it has begun to lay. Were putting it in the tractor for awhile to see what it does. *i* think its a hen but we will see :)

If it was younger and not 6 months old I would say rooster.. But it has no rooster feathers. The comb is small.. the legs are thin...

I am a little put off by it crowing. I would say definite girl if you didn't say that..

Here is my EE rooster at 5 months old. Very obviously a rooster. Check out his comb size, his long pointy hackle, saddle and sickle feathers.. the shine.. The stance.. Your bird looks nothing like a rooster.

Your bird has the body of my pullets.
