This is my 6 week old splash silkie. Any insight into male or female. He/she has a tiny thin comb and is smaller than her hatchmate whom I'm more inclined to say is a rooster.
Don't know if it's correct or just "old wives tale" but have read a male has a "pointy" tuff on the head while a female's is round. I do know that Silkies are difficult to sex early on, sexing comes at late as 6 - 8 months
I had silkies, and i sexed them pretty early from their combs on front. Then everything confirmed at about six weeks when they started crowing. And yes, roosters do have more like spikes on their head, when the hens just have rounded fluff. Take a pic of the front of his face and i will look at it.
