Hello!

I'm not new to the chicken scene, but I am to having this issue. I have a new chicken, I found them wandering around one evening in our valley, close to the time the Coyotes would start coming out..So I took them in, granted it wasn't happy, I was determined to find it's owner, since many on our block have chickens. I put them in our back room, separated from our flock, with food and water. It's been 3 days, I've posted that I've found a chicken with no owner, I've asked neighbors to no avail. Those who say they've seen this chicken say the owner abandoned it to roam free in our coyote ridden country side. So, I suppose it's my duty to keep it safe, at least until the owner comes forward, if they ever do. In the mean time, I've been trying to do some research on the bird, mainly it's sex, so I can describe that it's a male or a female. But I'm not even sure how old it is, I would say teenage ranged, in chicken growth size, but its cone is oddly big, I would say.

Can you help me out? If you have any clue on an age range, and/or the sex of this chicken, I would greatly appreciate it. I tried my best to get the best pictures I could with the skittishness of this chicken, and will gladly add more if necessary. Thank you for any assistance you can offer!

That helps! She's just smaller than our other ones, so I figured she was just younger, but some chickens are bigger than others. Thanks for the help!
