Rooster or Hen?

Raised from a chick. I am a first time chicken lady...lol. I am still learning, but so far I love my chicks. I was told when I got him or her that he was a her, not so sure now. I am leaning towards a Rooster, although he hasnt crowed yet. He is about 8-10 week old, maybe older. Any help would be appreciated and not sure of breed.

Yes I am thinking he is a rooster too. I adopted 2 baby chicks, they are in the dog crate. I was told they are barred rock? Anyway my rooster is very protective of them. I am the only one he will allow near them. Is this typical of a rooster?

I think its a Rooster, Roosters can be very protective

Roos can be very protective, thus the reason we have them...can you post a larger picture, and of the ones in the crate?

It looks like a rhode island red rooster.

BTW, all the chicks in my upper shot, turned out to be roos....

is it possible to know when they are young if you have roosters or hens?
