I'm a Newby. I've learnt a lot from this group in the past 3 months, including not 'home breeding' ISA browns. But needless to say since I've made that error already, I'd like to confirm if my brood is mostly roosters? I'll attach photos.

Is the top picture the chicks and the bottom the parents? If you want to know the sex of the chicks we will need better pictures - ones showing the comb and the body from the side.
Yes parents snd offspring. Thank you. I will try to get better photos. I had read that it was about the colour in this case - hens (more brown) roosters (white with bit of brown). Keen to learn more.

Your chickens are mutts.
They will be great layers, except if the rooster is the brother of your hens, but it is very rare to have that terrible luck.
They will need more protein than the ISA browns we buy, but less calcium and vitamin D. Also they will have double the size of the layers we buy. I don't know the reason.

Thank you. Fortunately the rooster came from a totally different source.
