Rooster over-mating hens

Here's the only rooster my hens will have to put up with. (Mine can't free range, so I really don't need a rooster).
400
. This is my nest box curtain!

I am in the same boat. My roo is about 13 months old and I have 15 hens. I swear he's doing it every 3 minutes. That's ALL he does. I have several hens with bare backs and balding on the head. He's stressing out my polish mix so badly that now she is terrified of any little move you make. She was bad before but it's so much worse now. I love my roo, he's friendly and beautiful. I wish I could castrate him.

Hi
I am having the same problem. I have 10 hens. He has overbred at least two. One has scabs on her back. He is young. I have segregated the overbred ones. Anyone have any good advice besides rehome get him.

I have a third pen just for my roo. Separation is key. I have my large main coop for the older ladies a smaller connected coop for injured brooding or chicks. The rooster over the winter overbred all seven hens so I built a new coop just for him. I cannot get rid of him cause he is my sons beloved 4H project from last year.

How does he deal with the separation? Does he crow a lot more?

All he does is crow and pace. Its kinda mean to lock him in his enclosure cause he can see his girls. On the other hand the hens feathers are starting to come in. Maybe in fourteen weeks he can meet our new hens. Maybe 16 hens is enough for him. Lol

i am worried about my hens getting over mated in the future.any advice? (i have 6 hens and 6 roos. i am planning to get 3-4 more hens. to get more eggs.) i am also worried my roosters will not get along. any advice would be appreciatted
