Rooster Preference

Hello everyone

I am looking at getting my first rooster and wanted to get some opinions. I’d like to stick with black or blue and am looking at the jersey giant, black Australorp and a French black Maran. Any opinions or preferences/experience?

Australorps make amazing roosters and are alway friendly. I have two Australorp rooster brother and they love each other and never fight. They don’t crow too loud either!

That said, not all Australorps are friendly. Plenty of stories of them being mean too. So it depends. But overall, I think they’re nice.

Glad you’re aware! That’s important. I do highly recommend one though.

I’ve never had one so can’t speak to that but I’d like to try one eventually.

Black Australorp (I’ve had them). They’re gorgeous and ‘generally’ docile. I say ‘generally’, because you might get an ornery one from time to time. That’s true of any individual of any breed though. Let us know what you choose.
