Rooster question

normal chicken scratch and inthe spring to fall that and laying mash. bread and stuff from the garden as treats

What do you feed your chickens?

Right now they are on a 20% protein ("all flock") type ration. They get oyster shell and grit on the side. They get some sort of treat most days like BOSS. cabbage, cucumber, zucchini, cracked corn or scratch. Once the grass grows and the snow goes, I'll give less treats because they free range and I will switch them to a layer feed with 16% protein and 4% calcium. They will still get oyster shell and grit every day.

I use laying pellets all year, with Oster shells as option all the time. Ours free range and we give them scratch as a treat, with fresh scraps from the kitchen. Our hens lay all year.
