Rooster seems off

the ivermectin is to put on the chickens not the coop. Did you mean permethrin?

I'm sure @Wyorp Rock can help you with dosing instructions.

Don't worry about dirt on the feet. The oil needs to sit on the scales until it wears off as it suffocates the mites. Then you reapply it a week later. A bit of dirty feet will do the bird no harm.

Not sure what you mean by crop was hard slightly squishy. if it is impacted it will feel quite solid. Does his breath smell bad? Does he go to bed with a full crop and it is empty by morning? Or is he not emptying it? Is he eating and drinking OK? What are you feeding him?

Sorry if you've answered those questions already. I've lost track of what what said earlier in this thread and if I nip back to earlier pages I will lose this post.
His breath doesn't smell bad so thats good. He is eating fine. I'm not too sure about his drinking. I feel like he might not be emptying it.

The crop should feel empty and flat in early morning before they have eaten or drunk. If it feels doughy or full and firm, then you could give a tsp of chilled coconut oil which they will usually peck. If his crop feels puffy, then you might treat for sour crop.

Oh ok I did put ivermectin on his back. Not permethrin. Just making sure I didn't need to spray it

Sounds good! I'll chill some coconut oil because it did have a doughy like feel too it. Thats a perfect way to describe it 👌

Looks like @Eggcessive has covered it all.

The Ivermectin *should* systemically treat the SLM, but I would apply vaseline to the legs to help heal the scales and smother any mites that may remain.
I prefer vaseline or most other ointments/oils for apply to legs/feet, face and combs - I've found that some oils can make skin peel, especially on the face.

I think I remember seeing the video a few days ago. I agree, I would treat for crop issues. I'm sure that @Eggcessive provided that info as well, but this is the info I use for treating impacted and/or sour crop. Keep in mind that a crop can be impacted and sour at the same time. A blockage can also be further down proventriculous, gizzard or digestive tract - so sometimes there may be an impaction and the crop won't "feel hard" because that's not where the blockage is located. https://www.backyardchickens.com/ar...w-to-know-which-one-youre-dealing-with.73607/

He may have other issues going on - sometimes all we can do is try to treat symptoms and see if they get better. If you lose them, then performing your own home necropsy or sending the body to your state lab can a lot of times give more information.

Thanks for jumping in, and sorry I couldn't scroll back to check the other advice given. This thread has a load of confusing and random symptoms and treatments and I lost track of it all!

@Eggcessive I got him a an appointment Friday to see a chicken vet. He doesn't act like he is dying because he eats and drinks, but he is isolating himself from his flock. And crow sounds terrible
