I am so sorry that you are having to give up your rooster, but I am glad that you will still be able to see him. I'm glad that you had many viewpoints and were able to make your own decision, in your own time.
Just please be sure to monitor his mood for the first few weeks. That he is not depressed, losing weight or looking ill.
This will be a big shock for him, in a lot of ways. A new home, the loss of you, strange new chickens putting him in his place in their flock, change in diet I'm sure too. Chickens don't like change, so its going to be a bit stressful for him at first until he adjusts.
