I was wondering if anyoen else has heard this same thing, and if maybe there is a different term for it? I often find my roosters "screaming" at eachother. It's a long, screeching type sound that they do if another rooster is around or if they are being wary of something. Is this really like a "scream" or is it called something else?
Our little roo used to do a "screeeeeee" (almost like an eagle) whenever he saw something he thought might be a danger. Mostly when the chicks would flap their wings and flutter through the room.
Roosters have many different vocalizations. Yes, I have heard him scream like you mentioned over a low flying hawk. The closer the threat, the louder the alarm call. The egg song with more intensity is also an alarm call.
