Rooster was fine yesterday, today, not so much...

Hi...all help is appreciated. My wife went out today to let the chickens out of the coop and my favorite blue ameraucana roo was laying on the floor limp. His comb is purple and his face is a bright magenta (her words) and hes drooling. He can't hold his head up. He is just over a year old and eats purina layena plus. Fresh water daily.

Hopefully he is now OK. It sounds as if he is low on oxygen for some reason - possibly a heart attack. I would also have checked his throat for an obstruction that might be suffocating him.

Unfortunately, he has passed on...I had my wife put him in the snow so i could check him out when I get home from work...thanks for the concern.
