I've been waiting for the update today.... Sooo happy she's eating on her own now. I was going to suggest putting her food up higher for her so she wouldn't have to bend so far over to get to it.... but I didn't. But maybe you could use a cyder block to raise her water and food so she can get to it on her own while you are at work??

You're a good chicken mama!!! Good job!!!

In her pen, its up about 6 inches off the ground so we're hopeful she starts eating it on her own. Having her outside with the others really seemed to help as she slipped right back in with their free range roving of the property (with us chaperoning her to make sure none of the others attacked her) She is clearly in pain when she tries to bend all the way over to peck but she went nuts for the scrambled eggs slurry...I was almost worried she ate too much. The wound looks really good too now that I've switched from neosporin to the wonder powder.

Excellent job Davian! Watch her constantly when she's with the others, you dont want them pecking her healed wounds...especially her head. This certainly made my day

Oh...100%. Our now dominant golden laced wyandotte (Mogwai) started to challenge her and we made sure to stay between them. She's in charge ever since our rooster's rapid departure. The last thing I want is to see that wound reopened.

Would she enjoy food on a string at eye level or in an elevated feeder so she doesn't have to bend? The way chickens heal so fast, maybe it won't be many more days til she can bend again.
