Rooster wing torn off (PIC)

May I ask what breed of dog and how much training was involved? The best livestock guardian dog I’ve heard of is a Great Pyranees, but I’m curious what other breeds can be such great protectors.
For training, she was just raised with horses, goats, sheep, chickens, and cats. She kind of decided that all of these creatures were hers to guard and protect. I guess you could call it immersive training, but there was no extra work that we did with her. Not sure I would trust her with my rabbits though, even though she has shown no prey aggression to our other animals, but bunnies are not something she was raised with and learned to protect.

Dio is doing great today! I am surprised at his recovery so far. He was up with the sun this morning crowing his head off (woke my hubby up, LOL!) And was talking all day. He is doing really well this evening, being all protective of his little Ollie and eyeballing me as I walk near his cage. He is acting almost normal as far as his human interaction goes. Antwerp roosters are really calm around other chickens but can be pretty human aggressive (especially if your back is turned and then you feel something small bounce off the back of your calf). The hens have always been incredibly calm and human friendly in my experience... I am so glad he is acting more normal and less subdued.
So far so good!
Yippee! Great little Dio is doing so well!!!

Dio update! He is doing fantastic and continues to mend well. Thank you all for the tips and moral support. He really is one of my favorite little roosters and I would have been so heartbroken to lose him... I will try to get some pictures up of him all healthy (sans the wing) once he is ready to come out and stand still for me. He is standing properly now but is always a bit sulky when I take him out for meds and rinsing of the now pretty much closed wound.
I think he is going to pull through with no problems at this point.
SO HAPPY!
