Rooster with an injured eye

Not sure if it would work or cause some damage. Generally pressing/pushing and coaxing the pus out is what is done.
If you try it, let us know how it goes.

I tried the syringe, it sucked at it but couldn't suck it up, just sucked up the saline/tears. Might have needed a larger diameter opening for it to work. I didn't try too hard to get it to work for fear of hurting him.

The swelling on the eyelid is going down a little, most of the pus is out but there is this thin line of yellow at the bottom of his eyelid that seems to be attached, can't dislodge it. Worried about pushing harder for fear of hurting the area more, hoping that the swelling goes down some more so it's easier to access.

He can almost peek out of the eye now, not sure how much control he has over the eyelid but it stays partially open until I put the ointment in.

Eye's getting better, should I keep on with the antibiotic ointment for the eye or let it continue healing on its own? I don't think it's going stay in there for long if I keep applying it.

Hows yor lil buddy doing?
Its been awhile since your last update.

He's doing much better. I was finally able to get the last of the gunk out of his eye which helped a lot and the swelling in his eyelid is slowly going down. Think he's gained a little weight also. I expect he'll make a full recovery.

A quick update if anyone is interested, he's doing fine, the only indication that anything was ever wrong is that the injured eye is paler in color than the other eye. It's no longer orange but more of a tan color.
He's most likely blind, if not half blind in that eye now.

My boy doesn't have a pupil anymore. I maybe able to get pictures if you'd like to see?

At most he's half blind, he does react when I move my hand toward him from that side so I believe he does see something but how much I don't know.

When this happened I was afraid he wouldn't have a pupil, but luckily it wasn't that bad, only a hole in the lower eyelid. I can't imagine what he'd look like without one, would have had to get him a tiny eyepatch.

He must see Shadows at most. One of my hens got an eye injury a couple years ago, & she's like your boy, half blind. They adapt really well with one eye.
