Have you added any venting to your coop?

I'm still working on it as there is multiple layers of wood (underneath the outside layer) and it's proving harder than expect but i'm nearly there, and I think i'm gonna have to put some sort of roof/prop up door in case rain were to come in

One way to keep rain out but let air in is to make awning style covers.

I know my structure is much different than yours. The concept is the same.


I cannot stress enough how important ventilation is.

I'm just worried as his crop still seems to be pretty empty (just a few pieces of grain i think i can feel) but I have fed him some mashed up food pellets. He seemed to eat enough to fill at least half his crop but I still don't feel anything Where is it all accumulating ? I've tried to put the water bowl in front of him multiple times and get him to drink but he hasn't been doing so even though the hens have. Earlier on, his tail was down and that was worrying me but it seems to be back to normal now.

I've read that Apple Cider Vinegar can help. I'm going somewhere on Tuesday with my mum so I can pick some up then as well as some grit (I've tried to find some small bits and i've put them in with their feed but not sure if he's eating them).

Keep grit in a separate dish. It works to let them get it when they need it.

The ACV needs to be "with mother". Not the filtered pasteurized. It will look cloudy or if settled it will have "stuff" in the bottom of the jar.
One teaspoon per gallon of water is all it takes.
