This rooster has no other symptoms, except for this horrible eye inflammation. Please look at the pictures and tell us what you think. Is it a growth or an infection? It smells bad. He is eating and drinking, and there is no indication of a respiratory infection. We have him on Aureomycin. Also, do you know what the black spots are on his comb?

Thanks!

Perhaps eye worm? Are the symptoms similar to this?

The eye becomes swollen, inflamed, and watery, impairing vision
The eyelids may stick together and the eye may turn cloudy
the chicken scratches the eye, trying to relieve irritation

Or maybe an influenza which might account for the black on the comb?!

Hope that you find out what's the matter.

Thanks for your help. He hasn't scratched it. At 1st, we thought it might be a cyst like a sty or something, but the yellow blob looks so strange- I don't know what to do about it. His eye is otherwise fine. Let me know if you think we should lance it - although that would cause the bacteria to go into his eye and make it worse.

That is corzya.
it is very contagious, separate from all others and treat him with tylan for 2 to 4 day or sulmet, and there is a gell called i cant think of the name right at,

also you can try to get that yellow out of his eye, very gentaly.

and make sure he drinks and eats.

Terramycin eye ointment will help in case of any other infection inside the eye. Can be purchased at Fleet Farm or TSC It's far cheaper from Jefferspet.com but you can get it faster just picking it up at the store. Poor guy! Hope he feels better soon!

It is Coryza, not corzay....

Also, treat with tylan (tylosin) (inject-able preferably ) for no more than 3 days. Separate him from the others, definitely a good idea. Also, the eye gel is called Ophthalmic Eye ointment, the active ingredient is Terramycin. You can find it at a farm and ranch store like TSC
