Rooster?

Can it be a rooster? The question is about the dark one, they are about 8 months old i had no crowing but in behavior ther is so much difference.

That's a hen. Every chicken has a different personality. Some are shy and some are very friendly/crazy! Both are very cute!

Pullet.

PSA FYI.....semantics, maybe, but can be important communication terms when discussing chicken behavior.

Female chickens are called pullets until one year of age, then they are called hens.

Male chickens are called cockerels until one year of age, then they are called cocks(or cockbirds or roosters).

Age in weeks or months is always a good thing to note.

I agree with other posters... she is an Easter Egger pullet!

I love her coloring. (very male like) Plus the way she holds her saddle is much less hen bump and more like cockerel later maturing. Some indicators are irrelevant though.

I can see why this one is so hard to discern, even with my experience, she has me questioning myself! I feel like I can see ONE pointy saddle feather in the very first pic. Her hackles almost seem longer than norm, maybe the pattern is tricking my eye. At this age, all chickens should be sporting saddle feathers which are gender specific...

Ok so i probably have 2 pullets, but can it be that the darker one is maturing slower? I think i still see feathers growing longer the light one has been laying for 3 weeks now

She is 100% pullet, and very pretty

Nope but i have seen the light one done that only ones but she wil lay her egg when i am busy in the coop or run

From what i’ve heard easter eggers can take awhile to mature. I have a 6 month old easter egger pullet who doesn’t look anywhere close to laying yet.
