Saturday morning I was sitting at my dining room table watching the wild birds feed at the feeder when they took off and a split second later a coopers hawk landing on the ground.
My chickens were free ranging and much to my surprise here come Slyvester and Junior my black jap roosters to run his butt off. They charged side by side and when they got about 6 feet from him the hawk flew off. Of course they were very proud of themselves as they ran back to their hens which were all hiding under the honeysuckle hedge row they had to stop every three feet or so and crow.
As a reward for the boys I boiled some pasta and gave it to them, they were very happy to call their girls to the treat "they found".
