Rooster's crow turning grey on tips
Our large majestic Rhode Island Red rooster is getting a lot of grey in his comb. He is pretty old is this why? Is there a health issue related to this I should be aware of? He is our friendliest and favorite chicken so we don't want anything to happen to him. I'm not sure of his age. He was an adult when we purchased him and have had him two years. His spurs are 1&1/2 to 2" long if that helps

Is it cold where you are lately if so he might have had frostbite

Not terribly. Lowest lows in last 30 days around 27 or 28 degrees. Plus they have 3 heat lamps in their chicken house where they roost at night.

Can you post a picture that looks close to what it looks like


If he has a large comb he just might not have allot of circulation in his comb

I have roosters like that it just happens when they get older i guess no need to worry
