I have a rooster whose spurs grew in a complete circle and have pierced his foot. Does anyone know if spurs should be regularly cut like our toenails? Or, should I do something about this poor rooster?

Seems like spurs that have grown in a circle and pierced the leg would be better cut with a Dremmel tool and cut off wheel. Cut the spur about 3/8 from the leg and the heat from the wheel will cauterize most of the time, but for any bleeding that may occur, baking flour from your kitchen and a little applied pressure will stop it in a short time. You may need antibiotics for the puncture, but the stub should heal just fine. Usually the bird will struggle a little, but that seems to be more from the buzzing of the Dremmel, rather than pain. Get somebody to hold the cock and wear eye protection. It's kinda like having a tooth filled. It's pretty simple after you get the first one done........PopSpurs can be easily removed with a technique involving a hot, baked potato (sounds silly but it's true).
