i agree no rooster bashing so i'll tell a good one my one rooster i named flash and he was not well liked by the other birds but i loved him and he new it so i held him he would coo to me and if i was near him and he found a good morsel of bug or something he would chatter to me like to say "hey honey i found you a treat come and get it" He was very sweet
I might as well add a story. my little juggernaut (buff roo) Is so sweet. He cant stand being alone without his dad. If I go up the mountain he is taking a shortcut to meet me there at the same time. When I go back down he is running back down. I know that if you hatch them from egg and hold them all the time they are pretty gentle. The lady who took my 2 silkies was in love with them. She said "I cant beleive how tame they are" She was telling me that a lady gave her a tame silkie and it ended up being aggressive. I dont know why but out of all the roosters we have had I only had one aggressive one named "drop kick" who did jackie chan moves. He is still here but he dont do it now.
Another thing is that all chickens can get defensive/aggressive towards people they aren't used to seeing every day, even hens...and some of my hens have spurs too!
The irony is maybe I have some roosters in my bunch of new chicks? Would I know by now? They's almost 6 weeks? The LFS lady said they were suppose tombe 98% girls?
ok I have buff orps amd it took about 4-5 weeks for the wattles and comb to come in. if its a strawberry red under the beak then it may be a boy. You could very well have girls
