I'm not convinced that handling a roo growing up makes them nice. I have a Cuckoo Marans roo right now that is becoming very aggressive - he was handled quite a bit. For many years I had a RIR roo that was a really nice roo(I miss him). I think it's a combination of breed and hormones mostly.
I'll give my Marans roo a chance but if it keeps up he's soup.

We had an ancona Roo, from our very first group of chicks we got, that was just downright nasty! He was especially nasty to my son,w ho was 6. My soon couldnt so much as open the door to he house to come outside, and that roo was off to get him! Needless to say, that was the best BBQ chicken we ever ate!! M son was exceptionally proud! LOL!!

Now on the other hand, I have had some lovely Roos! I had a Buff Rock roo, that was just a doll baby! He would come runnng when you called his name, and sleep in your lap! Unfortunately he decided to play chicken in the road lat year, he didnt win!
