Roosters?

See, the thing is, Sapphire Olive Eggers can be barred. Or they can not.

It was a set of 10 female chicks of the three breeds but no info on how many of each breed would be in the group. Four of them are lighter gray/yellow, 5 are darker gray, and one seems to be different and is a lighter gray with no yellow. This picture doesn't show all of them. I don't think I have one picture of all 10 together.

Your lighter chicks are Sapphire Splash. Any medium/dark gray birds with no special features are Sapphire Gems, and any bird with a crest and/or barring is a Sapphire Olive egger.

Thank you for the information. I'll think positive and hope for all females. By crest, I'm guessing you mean the feathers on the top of her head?

I find chicken genetics so interesting. That is def good news for OP. I would *hope* Hoovers wouldn't screw up that badly.
That was what I was thinking! They should be able to see a spot on the top of the head, sheesh! But since these breeds are new to me and I had no idea which could be which breed, I had nothing to go on other that positive thoughts. Gotta love those chickens!

Be sure to post updates. I'm pulling for you! I've always had great luck with hatcheries and sexing. I hope it's the same for you.

Here is one of my possible roosters. They are now almost 4 weeks old. Barring was mentioned as being male. Is this coloration barring? Thanks.

It doesn't look like barring to me.
Barring should be white stripes across the feathers, several stripes per feather.

Sometimes blue chickens have different shades on different parts of the body, and look patchy for a while as their feathers grow. I think that is what your chick is showing.

If you really do have a male, he will make himself obvious at some point with a comb & wattles that are bigger & redder than the ones the females have. That is most likely to happen within the next month or so.

The chicks are about 8 weeks old. One of the chicks that had a spot on its head, I think is a pullet Olive Egger with a crest. For some reason I don't have a photo of her. The other chick that had a spot ... well, I'm guessing is a cockerel. One of my Sapphire Splashes also appears to be a cockerel.
