Roosting bar idea?

I have a coop with roosting bars inside but during the summer I upgraded the run using a 10x10 dog kennel. I need some ideas of what to use and how to do it/placement ideas to put 2-3 roosting bars in the run. They have been free ranging and I haven't worried about it but I have had to keep them put up recently bc I found a ton of feathers in the yard and I'm worried something may have gotten after them so I'm keeping them up for a little while.
Pics for inspiration are always great! 😁

We built this for our girls it was an old fence post that we used and added the L brackets that you use to put a shelf on the wall for support.

I used two 6 inch x 2 inch x 2 feet pieces on each end and screwed a 4 inch x 2 inch x 1 1/2 feet piece in the middle on both ends and screwed a 4 inch x 2 inch x 8 feet piece across. I had Jersey Giants, so I made it only 1 1/2 feet high. You may need longer pieces on the ends, if you want to make it higher. About 8 adult chickens can fit comfortably on this perch.

How old are they? If there's a ton of feathers but birds seem unbothered, it's likely molting.
They are different ages... Some a year and a half and some only half a year. It's all in the coop and until I put them in there and didn't let them out to free range they wouldn't go back to the coop at night. They roosted on the patio table 🤦🏻‍♀️ so I figured something must have got in there and freaked them out. No one is hurt tho.

What breed are your girls? They are so pretty! I never thought of a stand alone roost🤦🏻‍♀️ I was thinking of something to run through the holes on the kennel. I wondered about a broom stick but it being round it just rolls and they could fall off.

I saw these 10 ft x 2 inch round wooden post at Lowe the other day in the garden section. If your Kennel is 10 feet x 10 feet, you can place them in an angle on the corners and zip tie them down. A broom stick or 2 inch x 2 inch x 8 feet lumber would also work.

I recommend not allowing the wood to go all the way to the chainlink unless you wall off where the roost meets the chainlink. Chickens will sometimes roost right against the chainlink and Ive had coons pull chickens through the wire or just pull their heads off through it. So if it does butt against it make sure you have something covering up that area like a piece of roof tin 🤟
