Ok, so I go home and geta smooth log from an old apple tree. About 3-4 inches in diameter. I took it into the brooder and layed it down and............you'd a thought I had brought a giant cat into the room!!! They went crazy! I also learned that one week oid chicks can fly a little. They flew out of the brooder are, into corners, out the door. Nuts! It caused me to have to go out and remodel the area after volleyball practice last night. Maybe they will warm up to the idea today.
