Roosts (and such) design help!

I haven’t used a poop board, though it is tempting. To me, it is added work...just scoop out manure from floor, and done.

See, I'm kinda there with ya. I've built one but I'm not sure I'm going to use it.

It takes me 10 minutes a day to scoop the poop and put it in my compost pile. I clean my coop bedding out once a year or year and a half and throw it in my deep litter run. No odor or flies in my coop, since there is no poop build up. It works well for me, I don't consider it added work. I don't have the nasty poop laying under the roosts and I spend time with the chickens, since they think they need to be in there with me while I scoop their board. If I didn't use a board, I would probably need to clean out under the roost every couple days and replace the shavings, since I have 27 chickens.

I lift it from the bottom
I did that at first, but found they would dislodge roost going under it, finally screwed it down.

Stupid question. What do you then do with the poop? Compost or toss it?
I put it in buckets which then go to my buddy who has a nice composting setup.

since they think they need to be in there with me while I scoop their board.
Ha!! I toss scratch in the run so I can sift boards un-harassed.

My grandmother would put all poop filled chicken coop bedding in between the garden rows.
Yes!
Shavings act as mulch in path(you don't want wood mixed into the soil) and nutrients are available at a 'safer' distance.
