Roosts for Muscovies?

Yes they will, the front of our chicken house is about the same height as yours. Oh they will go under your coop and lay eggs, we have a few hens that refuse to lay in the house so they will lay under there. They will suprise us and have hatched out some pretty big clutches from under the house.

Ohhhh. We have to get some now! If you hatch the eggs in an incubator will they be able to raise some on their own?

The kids would love to have muscovy ducks!

My breeder told me to spend some time holding each of them every day and now they're quite snuggly. I hold them all the time and they never hurt me! I do plan, eventually, to clip the flight feathers, but not out of fear that they'll hurt me. I've got a bazillion chickens and they're okay, but I won't be sad when they're processed. None of them have names and I'm fine with that. But the duckles are my good buddies. They see me and come running for treats and snuggles. OK, maybe they don't get much out of the snuggles, but I do! They're fabulous pets.

Furthermore, the problem WE have is kicking them OUT of the coop! They're impatiently waiting at the door to be let in when dusk comes and have to be booted out the door in the morning. But MOOOOOOOOM, the kibble's in HERE!!!! TOO BAD, you're on tick patrol! GO EAT BUGS! Then they hang around for a while hoping to sneak in when we're done with chores. But HAH, we're smarter than they are.

Oh, and they don't roost on anything, that I've seen, but they like to hang out in the bushes. Does that count?

My scovies go into the chicken house everynight. They lay on the floor with "don't mess with me" look on thier face. The regular ducks can't or don't go into the chicken house, here is 2 steps going into the coop. In the morning when I let everyone out the scovie girls take off and fly to the top of the "chicken kennel".

The regular ducks get let out of the "duck kennel" the calls take off flying and you have to duck(ha ha ha).

I LOVE my scovies.

My Muscovys sleep in a tree..... they live like wild ducks they free range on 7 acres.... I dont think I will ever catch them again..... their wings grew back...

My scovies sleep where ever they want.....

I have one that thinks she's a chicken as she was raised in the same cage with a chicken... I bought two more a male and female a little older than my original and I also have 1 pekin female....

I've seen my chicken duck sleep on the coop w/the roos and my pekin in the water pool, and the two new ones snuggle in the hay on the floor of the barn....

A question: When do female Muscovies start laying eggs?? is it seasonal??
