Roosts

I am new at the chicken thing and now that they are laying I am having a blast. However I m not sure if my roost is what my chickens need or want Lary my rooster is always on the top and my hens are on the lower one. should I just leave it the way it is or make more room. So all of them can sit together?

In my case my roosters sleep on the lower roost and closet to the door. I think they just want to be on guard all the time.
