My 2 chicks that I think are rosecombs have a dark golb with a light yellowish horn above it for a comb. They are a few days shy of 6 weeks. Neither has wattles at all. They both have huge tails. One is dark blue and one I think is lemon blue. She is more of a silver color with still a bit of yellow on her face. Started to see the white earlobes getting bigger a few days ago. I postd pics in Me my chicks my family under the thread Pics of my flock...finally. Go look and see.
They are 6 weeks old now and I still can't tell the difference. This is so vexing.
Does anyone have good pics that show the difference in feathers for males and females around this age? I'm just not sure what else to go by. These birds have thrown me for a loop.
) I have four Buff Chantecler chicks, which of course have only a small cushion-type comb, and although I have resigned myself to having to 'stake out' the coop when they're older and see who crows, it is REALLY ANNOYING not to be able to develop theories about what I've got there.
Here are two of my rose combs. They are 7 weeks old today. Any thoughts about gender? Their (non-existant) combs are a bit pink, but hardly any wattles at all. I want to say hens...?
I have 2 GLW, 8 weeks old. Both look exactly the same except 1 has a flatter broader comb , other narrow and raised like a regular comb. Not even pea looking. Both have the same wattles and ears. I'm in a quandry or else stupid or in denial. Hoping CT chickenstock can help .A ny ideas
