okay so i have 3 rouens and two KC's i got tired o there mess in side of their brooder so moved them outside there about 1 1/2 - 2 weeks old i live in NC it is about 80-90 in.the day 68-78 at nught its raining right now and there swimming in their water bowl do you guys think.they will be okay?
I Would get them inside with some heat to heat them back up after being out in the rain. If its in the 80s and 90s they will be fine during the day but at night they will need to have some heat until they are a lil bit older.

Well they have a house full of hay and a heat lamp?

I'd put them in there until its done raining and then they can go back out. Since they are still babies and are fuzzy they soak up water (as you know) so to help keep them warm I'd get them out of the rain after a Lil bit. So they can dry off.

Hello Everyone, Love the Rouen Duck Thread.

We're in beautiful southern Maryland and have 2 drakes and 3 hens, ( at least that's what I believe at this point) I'm going by bill color and quack sound. Having raised rouens as a youngster, back in Oklahoma. I'm going on memory here as far as trying to sex my ducks. Originally purchased 15 ducklings from Cackle Hatchery, Lebanon Mo. ( highly recommended ).

Unlike chickens ducks feather grow the complete opposite. Their wings are the last to get feathers. Yes its usually tails first. They will be feathered out by 5-7 weeks. Then they go into another molt at about 10-13 weeks. Some breeds (like rouen males) take a bit longer because they go through such a big change. My Rouen male took the longest to get his adult feathers.
