I treated with safeguard paste back in April. I'm in FL so I expect reoccurring roundworm issues. Well, I found a roundworm in one bird's droppings this morning. I had read piperazine is the recommended treatment for roundworms, but apparently it isn't made for chickens anymore? I found a piperazine citrate for cats and dogs. Would this work? Could I dose it in water? What would the dosing be? I have 10 birds ranging in age from 12 weeks- 1 year.
Help!

I think ivermectin kills roundworms. I do like 3 drops down their throat and on their back (I use ivermectin sheep drench) and safeguard goat dewormer 6-9 drops every 30 days.

I thought ivermectin was topical only?
No, there are many types:
1% injectable can be given by injection or orally
0.05% pour on that is given topically only, never orally.
1.87 % horse paste can be given orally.
0.08% sheep drench can be given orally.

Each one of those has a different dose. I will come up with a list later.

The horse paste you have to be careful with dosage.
If you are only doing three drop of sheep drench orally I think you are under-dosing.
That's what I thought to but it always get rid of my mites. You give more ivermectin to a sheep than you do safeguard so I figured its probably not enough but I'm not sure.
