I have a two year old hen here who recently came into my possession. She took a little while to start laying eggs after her transition, and now she is laying rubber eggs. There have been four so far and this last one had a 'cord' with 'gel' still attached. See below. What can I do? They have DE, vinegar, calcium and layer pellets. They free range a very large yard.

Sometimes, in spite of providing a good diet and all the calcium needed, a hen still has "issues". Diet alone cannot always solve all these problems in reproduction. It is possible that this may have been this hen's issue for sometime, even before you took possession of her.

Sir, does this mean she will likely never lay proper eggs and certainly can't be bred?? I only have the three Orloff hens.
