I would love to see what you did on the inside!

I can't find any pictures! I'll have to send hubby out there tomorrow to take some.

It has been a long winter up here (and it won't leave

) so it might not look too pretty in there right now, but I'll get some pics for you as soon as I can.
I think you will like the resin sheds. Not as nice or as insulated (or as pricey) as a wooden one, but we have 2 heat bulbs going in ours in the winter with no problems. It has never dropped below freezing inside there yet, and we're in WI! It's going to be 26 degrees tonight.

And in summer we have a fan with a clip that we will hang in there for some extra air flow.

mmaddie's mom :

@ Celtic Druid... That 2nd one is really cool... but the first one is more in my price range.

Thanks for the info.

My thoughts exactly. Love the second, but can more afford the first!

mmaddie's mom, where is Elmwood? We're neighbors! Duh for me for not noticing sooner!

You'll definitely have to let me know how your project progresses.

Elmwood is in Central Illinois (Peoria area).

Warm lights in the Winter... and a fan to move air in the Summer sounds good.

No hurry with the pics... between the weather and long hours at work, the project will probably be pretty slow.

In terms of condensation, insulation of the roof underside is most critical, plus ventilation. It can literally "rain" inside a metal shed when the sun comes out after a snow. And I'm not kidding about the rain.

Hopefully a carpenter type can chiime in on best way to retrofit insulation. My sheds have those pink foam sheets installed over the purlins or OSB sheathing covered by tar paper supporting the roof. The naked metal roofs rain -- except for ones that are open sided.

allpeepedout ~ thanks for replying to my post ... what do you mean by "The naked metal roofs rain -- except for ones that are open sided." Do you mean, because they have maximum ventilation the "rain" does not occur?

On a side note, I have a 4ft high plastic/resin storage bin for my rabbit supplies. It has 2 doors that swing open with plastic/resin shelving inside. One day I caught a rat in there and shut the door until my DH could get home ... he chewed his way out within an hour. The doors are definitely thinner (just one layer of plastic) compared to our thick shed door and double layered shed walls but thought I would make a note of it.

New here and just aquired a 7x7 rubbermaid yesterday (FOR FREE

)... And will be starting my build shortly! Quick question... I've got a brand new bathroom vent fan I've had sitting around awhile... Since the model I have has two skylights in it already, would it be worth my time to install the fan for ventilation... Or do you think that's just overkill?

Was just dumb luck at that, I was looking for pallets to build a coop with when it was out of the blue offered to me! Boy does that floor look easy to clean!

Wow! Lucky you!
Proper ventilation in a chicken coop is essential. Manure gives off ammonia fumes, and chickens have very sensitive respiratory systems. Any extra air flow you can give them will be beneficial, from helping to keep it cooler in the summer to keeping ammonia & other smells down in the winter.
Quick questions for you.
Where will the shed be located?
How much shade will it have?
Good luck on your endeavor! You'll have to post pics.
