Granted it's not cheap but when it comes to chickens I would pay that and I'm Scottish.
Here is what my splint looked like. Ended up keeping her in a large cat carrier for almost 3 weeks to be able to keep it clean and dry (and keep it on her toe!) She did not act painful when she broke it and it was a very bad break...kinda just flappin' in the breeze! We didnt give any pain meds. That's a good point. It may have been that way for some time. She appears to be walking too well for it to be freshly broken. One way to find out would be to very gently manipulate the toe. If it's well on the way to healing in that position, you won't be able to change the angle. It will insist on being bent and refuse to straighten.
I think if you treat it in the same way you do a chick with crooked toes, that could work. Chicken shoe time! But it would work only if it has been freshly broke.
Do you remember the dose?I’ve had an avian vet prescribe ibuprofen.
If she were mine i don't think I would do anything unless she started limping more.Ruby’s toe seems pretty stiff... pretty sure it would cause pain if I straightened it. Thoughts? Last I looked, she was on an outdoor roost with haler tail down. But she got up there!

I'd just watch it, but I am funny that way.Nope. Ugh. So you’d not dose or anything?
I guess I feel like @casportpony, take a wait and see approach to her pain level. That would be the only reason to splint it if it seems stiff. Its probably not a new break. My pullet broke hers in two, every step made the break worse and I was afraid that it was damaging tissue and might strangulated the blood supply. But if shes painful tomorrow I would set it.Ruby’s is stiff. Not resetting g it today (leaving sooon), but maybe tomorrow? Is that stupid to do it later and not now?
