I have nine Americaunas that were hatched April 25th. So they are 4 mos old. They were straight run, but only one is clearly a boy. About half of my chickens are rumpless, and I just cannot tell which are boys. A couple of the rumpless ones have little curly single feathers coming out of their rump. One of those has lost some tail feathers- somebody has been picking on him. I want to pull the spare roosters into another pen. They are all colors- rust, black and white, gold.

really need some full body shots of them to help out but at this age cockerels should have long slender pointed hackles and saddles

definitely post some pics and I'm sure we can help you sex them at 4 months old

Mystery solved-they aren't actually rumpless. They were pecking victims. Their new tailfeathers were pulled out by the flock before I saw them. So I started removing them a couple at a time. I now have 6 little roosters in a separate pen. I can tell they are roosters now becasue of their hackles, as you said, and because they fight constantly all day long.......Boys! The hens are laying better now that they are out of the main house. Thanks for your help..
