Run questions about hardware cloth and chicken wire for duck run

Hey all was wondering if you were to build a 8’ tall duck run, could you use 4 feet of hardware on the bottom and doubled up chicken wire for the 4 feet above?

I wouldn't , chicken wire isn't predator proof.

Chicken wire isn't predator proof, but if given my choice between only chicken wire and chicken wire + hardware cloth, the latter will at least provide some reachthrough protection against things like raccoon, and provide a small amount of deterrence to small rodents and snakes if they don't bother climbing high enough.

I used chicken wire on my medium-security Camp Cockerel build -- but it is specifically a holding facility for lower-value birds. Camp Cockerel

Double chicken wire is certainly better than nothing, and better than one layer alone, but if I could I would spend the extra money and do hardware cloth. Much more effective and stronger than chicken wire.
