*~*Runner Duck Club*~*

CyndiD forgot where you are from but here it's in the upper 80's suppose to be low 90's tomorrow. Only 3:30 could get hotter. Gonna take a while to cool off today lol if I had more than one I could have them outside today. Night gets to cool. Think that's what happened to the other two. Mom not getting them together at night.

I am in northern Idaho. Our high temp was in t/low 70's w/light gust of wind now & then. It was beautiful. I put all my ducklings outside for the first time today, they r 1,2 & 3 wks old. They liked it. I put them into their permanent duck house after their day out. They are snug & cozy out there, i just checked on them & t/temp under t/heat lamp was 75°, so i lowered t/lamp alittle. They should be fine.
So t/2 ducks that u lost, did they stay outside all night? Or just for a little while? How old were they? When u said "mom not getting them together at night" do u mean momma duck or ur mother?
Take care, ttyl

CyndiD eggs are laid hatched and supposedly raised by mama duck. They are outside but have a small house to go into. I close the door every night. Plenty warm as long as mama duck keeps them close. Problem was see started back laying and didn't watch over the babies. The one that made it was under mom sitting on eggs. Born on Friday. Found one dead on Saturday and the second on Monday. The one I bought inside seems to be doing good. She raised eleven ducklings last year. Very good mother last year. I'll take your 70's. Suppose to be low 90's today. After today upper 70's low 80's rest of week. Not cut on aircondition. Holding off on that light bill as long as I can lol wouldn't be so bad if every other night I didn't get woke up to skunk smell and have to cut window fans off. Oh the joys of country living lol

Here are my runners Merry and Pippin.

I need some opinion s please above is a link to a video of my ducks. I have one solid black.no idea what breed but he it's growing way slower than all my other ducks. I'm worried about him. The other s seem to take care of him.they keephim in the middle of the flock. He eats just like everyone else.. I have no idea what's going on. After looking on this forum I think he might be a runner but does that explain the size?

If your others are Pekins and I think an Ancona? Runners are smaller than they are, by about half. Has the little one been growing? The bill looks Runnerish to me. Wondering if it might be a cross, perhaps Runner - Mallard.

Yes white ones are pekin. I bought then thru a local hatchery.. shadow the little black one has grown some but not much ill see if I can find a picture of when I got them
